Strawberry Almond Flour Cake

Strawberry Almond Flour Cake

During birthday season (the beginning of the year in our house), we tend to make this cake at least one a month. It's a great grain-free substitute for a traditional vanilla cake and you can adjust the sugar level to your liking depending on how you use it. I like to keep the sugar content [...]

Maple Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Maple Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Light with a hint of maple but not overly sweet like their orange cousin - the yam, this side dish can easily steal the show. It's super simple to prepare and pretty hard to mess up. I added ripe (plus a couple days) Turkish figs for a little twist on the traditional mashed potatoes and [...]

Gluten-Free Blueberry Oat Muffins

We bake at least every other day in our house. It's such a great way for the kids to be involved in the kitchen and feel like they're a part of the daily rhythm of our day-to-day lives. These muffins are very low in sugar, gluten-free and can easily be a quick grab-and-go breakfast if [...]

My favorite healthy LA restaurants & ice cream spots

If you're on the Autoimmune Protocol (like I am) then eating out can be tricky. Luckily LA is one of the best cities to get stuck if you want to indulge in restaurant food every once in a while. Here are some of my favorite healthy-for-all places that also happen to be kid (and husband) [...]

Since two of my three babies enjoy meat, we’re shifting to a more reasonable action plan as a family of One Meal a Day that’s plant-based (at the very least). Apparently doing so will save 200,000 gallons of water and the carbon footprint of driving from LA to NYC per person!! Thank you @suzyamiscameron for sharing your wisdom. Feeling good and improving our world for our kids is really all that actually matters 💚. Lunch is a gluten-free bagel from the best ingredients by @oiseaufoods, organic avo and broccoli sprouts 💚 #omd #plantbased #quicklunchideas #savethebees #avocadotoast #avocadoaddict #veganmama #skinfood #sesameseeds #glutenfree #climatechange
You guys. I was totally a believer in meat until I got the right push/a sign from the universe and a husband (and children, YES, on their own accord) who also want to dabble in a plant-based diet. Anyone with me? Maybe I’m crazy. After all, a meat and dark greens, mostly #AIP diet saved me from MS. Or did it? Being on the autoimmune protocol has taught me so much about listening to my body and what it needs. Perhaps this modality was a way of retraining myself to pay attention to its wisdom. I’m sure I’m going to loose a lot of you when I say I’m moving to a mostly #vegetarian way of life, but I came on here to find community and support for an alternate path to healing 5 years ago, and I did. People like @autoimmunepaleo were my oracle. And now after one week of just trying out a #plantbaseddiet my energy level is insane, my skin is glowing and my gut (my oh so leaky gut) is soooo happy. So tell me friends. Have you ever walked the plank and wound up happy that you did? #lookoftheday #fridakahlo #lifestylechange #consciousness #consumeless #savethebees🐝
It’s #grape harvest time at our house 🥳
Yes, I’m part of the celery juice cult. I was skeptical at first but MAN it’s pretty amazing. I started my healing journey only able to eat super-clean biodynamic farm-raised animals and green vegetables or else flare up. Now my only real restrictions are gluten + dairy and I definitely credit the allergy tolerance to celery juice. My skin and eyes are brighter, my tummy is flatter and I have TON more energy on top of it. I’ve seen it work so fast on little ones with eczema and allergies too! So ya, give it a whirl every morning for one week on an empty stomach. Wait 15 min before eating and see how it can change your life too 💚 . Tip: instead of juicing it which creates a big mess/clean up, try blending chopped celery with a couple cups of filtered water in a high powered blender then strain through a nut bag. 💫 . . #celery #celeryjuice #celeryjuicebenefits #medicalmediumprotocol #aip #healyourself #healyourbody #superhealthykids #greenjuiceaday #healyourgut #cleangut #natureselectrolytes
Here’s to goin through life with kids and learning from them. There’s happiness and humor in almost anything if you give yourself a moment to take a breathe and be curious and silly. Tostones 🍌 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of my favorite carbs when I go back to eating an AIP diet to calm inflammation in my body. Full of Vit A & C to help regulate the immune response, B6 for brain and eye health and potassium and magnesium, these littles guys are little slices of gold. They’re also an amazing finger food for babies!! Choose a plantain that is more black than green, score it lengthwise with a knife and then peel. Cut the fruit into 1/2 inch disks and cook on medium heat for a couple minutes each side with 🥑 oil or coconut for a more tropical taste. Once they’re browned use a heavy spoon to gently smash them. They make a great “chip” for dips or holder for tiny apps 🥳 . . #aip #babyfood #tostones #plantains #fiberrichfoods #fingerfoods #babyledweaning #paleo #nutrientdensecooking #familyfriendly #kidapprovedfood #whole30 #healthysides #multiplesclerosis #eattoheal #remissionismymission #autoimmuneprotocol

About Me

My name is Liz and I’m a mama to two awesome little people, Felix (3.5) and Chloe (17 months). We live in LA…actually, the Pacific Palisades…and try to take full advantage of the beautiful bounty that SoCal has to offer. We do A LOT of farmers markets since I follow the Autoimmune Protocol (with re-intros) after a scary diagnosis in 2014. My newfound appreciation for eating healthy to maintain my own well-being has brought inspiration to my kitchen, and I love to cook healing family-friendly meals and share wellness tips that I’ve learned along the way from my many holistic doctors, nutritionists and gurus. I hope you find my recipes as yummy as they are healthy :)
